Marlyn B. Nelson, 74, rural, Lake Park, Minnesota, died Sunday, August 2, 2009 at his home on Middle Cormorant Lake. M.B. was born on September 10, 1934 to Albert and Myrtle (Broughton) Nelson in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He was raised and educated in Detroit Lakes. M.B. was united in marriage to Darlene Haugen on March 17, 1957 at St. Peterchr(39)s Lutheran Church, rural Audubon, Minnesota. M.B. served in the United States Army for two years from 1957 to 1959. After he received an honorable discharge from the military, M.B began working for Ace Construction in Oklahoma and Kansas. M.B. and Darlene moved back to the Lake Park area in 1966, when he started to work for Dieseth, Sellin Brothers and Harvey Nelson Construction. He started M.B. Nelson Construction in 1984 and spent winters in Apache Junction, Arizona for the past eighteen years. He was a member of Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church, rural Detroit Lakes. M.B. is survived by his wife, Dar; son, David (Carla Jean) Nelson of Lake park, Minnesota; daughter,Carla Ann Bergren of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Lindsay (Nate) Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Lacey Ranstrom of Fargo, North Dakota; Chantal and Cheyanne Nelson of Lake Park, Minnesota; Samuel and Matthew Bergren of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews. M.B. was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Allan Nelson.
