Florence A. Baker, 91, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at St. Marychr(39)s Nursing Center, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Florence was born on September 25, 1917 in Climax, Minnesota to John and Emma Moe Gudvangun.   She grew up and attended school in Climax, Minnesota. She worked as a housekeeper for hotels and families in the Fargo area. She met her husband of 52 wonderful and happy years when she responded to an ad in the paper for a housekeeper and someone to care for his 5 children after their mother died. As he told the story, "she was too good to let go" and asked her to marry him. They made their home in rural Ogema, Minnesota. They moved to Lake Park, Minnesota in 1975. Florence was a wonderful cook, gardener, and mother. She was an avid sports fan, who rarely missed a Minnesota Twins or Vikings game. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Marychr(39)s Nursing Center for all their wonderful care and support they have shown Florence and her family in the past 8 months.   Florence is survived by her one step-son, Bill Baker of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; three step-daughters, Janette (George) Pawlowski of the Villages, Florida; Judy Baker of Las Vegas, Nevada; Dora Moore of New Hope, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Gudvangun of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Helen (Lawrence) Wagner of Palisade, Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews.   Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Warren "W.W." Baker (Oct.1, 2003), step-son, Don Baker, five brothers and five sisters.
