Vernon Clifford Block

Vernon C. Block age 69 of Detroit Lakes, MN died December 19, 2013 at Essentia Health - Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Vernon Clifford Block was born on January 18, 1944 in rural Fergus Falls, MN to Arnold and Olena Block. His family moved to Detroit Lakes when Vern was a young boy. He grew up and received his education there. Vern worked at the Gasport Truck stop in Detroit Lakes, and later drove truck for Hough's in Detroit Lakes for many years. He was united in marriage to Judy Kiehl on September 3, 1971. They made their home and raised their family in Detroit Lakes. Vernon enjoyed hunting, fishing, hobbying farming, old cars, and tractors. He was also an animal lover, and enjoyed visiting with others. He is survived by his wife Judy, three daughters, Linda (Jeff) Schlauderaff, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Julie (Terry) Bilky, of Clear Lake, Iowa; and Shelly (Bill) Sellers, of Clear Lake, Iowa; one son, David Block, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one stepson, Bruce (Laura) Johnson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one brother, Arlo (Naida) Block, of Frazee, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Elvin Block; and one stepdaughter, Tara Schermerhorn.
