Lorrine M. Hanson age 92 of Detroit Lakes, MN died January 14, 2014 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Lorrine Margaret Hanson was born on December 26, 1921 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Benhard and Clara Knutson Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Grove Lake Lutheran Church. She attended school in Pelican Rapids. As a young lady she cleaned cabins in Dunvilla, and also worked as a live in nanny. She moved to Washington State where she worked at Boeing for a few years. On September 28, 1945 she was united in marriage to Roy Hanson in Moorhead, MN. They made their home in Finley, ND for a time before settling in the Detroit Lakes area where they raised their family. Lorrine has been a resident at Emmanuel Nursing Home since 2004. Lorrine was a devoted wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother. She was always happiest when she was doing something for them. Her grandchildren were fortunate to be in her loving care. She rarely turned down an opportunity to babysit, share a game of Skip-Bo, and lots of homemade cookies. She loved music, especially country music. Sunday mornings you could find her keeping track of the top ten on the radio. Lorrine never did seem to fill the emptiness left by the loss of Roy. It comforts us to know that there surely was a joyful reunion when she joined him in Heaven. She is survived by two daughters, Carol (Russell) Okeson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Laurie (Steve) Knutson, of Lake Park, MN; one son, Bert (Lynda) Hanson, of West Fargo, ND; ten grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; and one sister, Vernice Gandrud, of Detroit Lakes, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hanson (1998); six brothers, James, Irvine, Aldin, Vernon, Milton, and Warren Johnson; and two sisters, Alice Dorff and Helen Stigen.
