Wilma Eileen Tye

Wilma Wilcox Tye, 95, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died on April 22, 2014 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home , Detroit Lakes, Minnesota under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Wilma Eileen Morris was born on August 31, 1918 in Argus, Indiana to Harvey and Lottie Mae (Taylor) Morris. She attended school in Indiana until the 8th grade, when her family moved to Nimrod, Minnesota. Wilma was united in marriage to Frank Wilcox on June 6, 1937 and they farmed in Nimrod, Staples and the Pine River area. Later, she worked at Father Foley's boys camp out of Pine River. They had two children. After their children were grown, they moved to Detroit Lakes, MN. Frank passed away on January 25, 1979. Wilma married Richard (Jake) Tye on June 8, 1984 and moved to International Falls, Minnesota. They later moved to Pine River, where Jake died in November of 1998. Wilma moved to Detroit Lakes in 2000. Wilma was active in church activities and was also a member of the Emmanuel Community Auxiliary. She had many friends and was an avid reader. Wilma moved to the Lamplighter Manor in December of 2006. Wilma is survived by her daughter, Reva (Duane) Husby of Detroit Lakes, MN; two stepsons, Richard (Rita) Tye of Richfield, MN; John (Diane) Tye of Le Sueur, MN; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Frank and Jake, one son, James, step son, Carl Tye, three step brothers, one step sister, one brother, two sisters and two great great grandchildren, Reese and Hudsyn Larson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church (885 Pembina Trail, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501 or Hospice of the Red River Valley (1111 E. Hwy 10 Suite 100, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501).
