Leslie E. Midlang, 94, Lake Park, Minnesota, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, Minnesota. Les was born on January 15, 1920, the son of Leonard and Edna (Evenson ) Midlang in Kensett, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Kensett High School. He attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa receiving a degree in farm science. Les was united in marriage to Mildred Moen on December 31, 1941 in Kensett, Iowa. He was a salesman for Hunting Elevators and covered territories in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota. They made their home in Worth County, Iowa until 1955 when they moved to Osage, Iowa where they owned and operated the Osage Hotel. Les and Mildred moved to Ellendale, North Dakota in 1983 where they managed the Travel Host Motel. In 1992, they purchased the 6-11 Inn in rural Audubon, Minnesota and continued to operate the business for four years before fully retiring. Les was an active member and supporter of Faith Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. He was also active with the Becker County Senior Center and the Republic Party. Les loved to read, visit and play cards. Les is survived by three grandchildren, Christine Orluskie of Lake Park, MN; Eric (Chris) Griffin of Ceylon, MN; Tony Midlang of Osage, IA; twelve great-grandchildren; twenty-one great great grandchildren; son-in-law, Bruce Dahlberg of Audubon, MN; sister, Marian Helling of Minneapolis, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Les was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mildred (2000), son, James Midlang, daughter, Joanne Dahlberg, four brothers, Norris, Milton, Dennis and an infant brother, good friend, Lorraine Halverson. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Terrace Fund at the Sunnyside Care Center (16561 US Hwy 10 Lake Park, MN 56544)
