Shirley M. Korth, 84, Frazee, Minnesota died Monday, September 8, 2014 at Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota. Shirley was born on November 29, 1929 to Louis and Ida (Mann) Pulvermacher in Columbus, North Dakota. She graduated from Alkabo High School in 1947 and then sold her cows to pay for her schooling at Trinity School of Nursing in Minot, North Dakota. Shirley graduated in 1951 and started her career in nursing. She was united in marriage to Melvin Korth on June 13, 1952 in Minot. They moved to New London, Wisconsin in 1954 and Shirley worked in a number of communities as a nurse in Wisconsin until moving to Frazee in 1971. She later became the Director of Nursing in Frazee and Perham, Minnesota. Shirley retired from nursing in 2000 from St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes. Shirley was known as "Sarge in charge" in the later years of her nursing career. Shirley loved living at their lake home and continued to live there even after Melvin passed away in 2006. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and collecting dolls. Shirley cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her son, Brian (Barbara Ann) Korth of Detroit Lakes, MN; daughter, Cheryl (Scott) Olson of Detroit Lakes, MN; two daughters-in-law, Bonnie Korth of Frazee, MN; Krista Korth of Detroit Lakes, MN; six grandchildren, Annette Korth, Amanda (Tristan) Patterson, Andrea Korth, Rory (Shelby) Olson, Ryan Olson and Ross (Ali) Olson; ten great-grandchildren, five siblings, Norrine Rockwell of Kearney, NE; Richard (Patricia) Pulvermacher of Ambrose, ND; Louise (Harry) Fink of Raymond, MT; Gail Venne of Lincoln, NE; Lloyd (Carol) Pulvermacher of Alkabo, ND; numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin, two sons, Alan and Calvin Korth, sister, Ardith Huffman.
