Miles John Kohout

Miles John Kohout, 90, Lake Park, Minnesota died on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, Minnesota. Miles was born on August 30, 1924 to Mathias and Christine (Kral) Kohout in Montgomery, Minnesota. He was raised and educated in Montgomery. As a young man, Miles enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943. He was stationed at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California and served as a Pharmacist Mate until receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. Miles then attended St. Thomas University in St Paul, Minnesota receiving a Bachelor's Degree of Science. Miles was united in marriage to Judith Carter-Johnson on December 14, 1957 in Crookston, Minnesota. He worked as a claims adjuster for State Farm Insurance Company, Farmers Union Insurance Company and Milbank Mutual Insurance Company throughout the Midwest for many years until his retirement in the early 80s'. They made their home in rural Lake Park since 1978. Miles was a member of Cormorant Lutheran Church. During his retirement years he helped his wife, Judy with many art and craft shows that she took part in throughout the region. Miles is survived by his wife, Judith Kohout of Lake Park, MN; two daughters, Kimberly Backous-Zimmer of Milwaukee, WI; Kris (Bruce) Quackenbush of Chokio, MN; son, Kraig (Phyllis) Kohout of Wahpeton, ND; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Miles was preceded in death by his parents.
