Hattie G. Rislund

Hattie G. Rislund age 87 of rural Waubun, MN died February 19, 2015 at Sanford Health Palliative Care in Fargo, ND. Hattie Rislund was born on October 21, 1927 in rural Audubon, MN to Algot and Viola Peterson Olander. She attended District 5-2 and District 9 one room country schools in rural Audubon. She then graduated from Audubon High School. On June 6, 1961 she was united in marriage to James Rislund. They made their home in Minnetonka, MN for 28 years before moving to their current home on Tulaby Lake. Hattie loved life, and the people she met along the way. Her family and friends were very important to her. She was most happy when her house was full of people. She also enjoyed feeding and watching birds, growing flowers, and playing games, including cards and backgammon. She is survived by her husband, Jim; three daughters, CindyLu (Kenley) Merrill, of Burnsville, MN; Jeanne (Edward) Houdek, of Pine City, MN; and Sherri Rislund, of Watertown, MN; two sons, Mike (Paulette) Rislund, of Shakopee, MN; and Miles Rislund, of Shakopee, MN; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister in law, Carol Olander, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Lindy Olander; and an infant sister; Margaret Olander.
