Anna Marie Grunwald

Anna Marie Grunwald age 103 of Lake Park, MN died February 23, 2015 at the Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, MN. Anna Grunwald was born on January 20, 1912 near Goodrich, North Dakota to Jacob and Elizabeth (Reiner) Gessele. She grew up and received her education there. As a teenager she moved to Washington State with her brothers, finding work in the beet fields. She later moved to Detroit lakes, MN where she worked as a housekeeper for a family from Bismarck, ND, who spent summers in Detroit Lakes. She then met and married Bennie Grunwald in Detroit Lakes, MN. They farmed in rural Detroit Lakes for many years before retiring and moving into town. She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Perman and Rachel Birge, both of Lodi, CA; one brother, Edwin Gessele, of Lynnwood, WA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie (6/1/1999); five brothers; four sisters; and her parents.
