Clarence "Clancy" Otto Kochmann

Clarence "Clancy" O. Kochmann, 88, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died Saturday, April 11, 2015 at VA Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota. Clancy was born on March 18, 1927, the son of Julius and Veronica (Athmann) Kochmann in Beaulieu, Minnesota. He attended school at the Crookston Agriculture School in Crookston, Minnesota. Clancy served in the United States Army during WWII, after receiving an honorable discharge he returned to school to finish his education. He was united in marriage to Rachel Walde on June 14, 1949 in Bagley, Minnesota. They lived on the family farm for a couple years before they moved to St. Paul, Minnesota. Clancy operated three gas stations in St. Paul for a number of years, before moving to Park Rapids, Minnesota. He continued to run a gas station in Park Rapids, until retiring in 1983. Clancy and Rachael moved to Sedona, Arizona, where they managed an RV park. Together they formed a band and shared their love of music by entertaining others in Sedona and Flagstaff. They moved to Detroit Lakes in the late 80's. Clancy was a member of the Park Rapids American Legion Post #212. He helped his wife, Rachel author a book about the United States Presidents. Clancy enjoyed traveling, music and fishing. Clancy is survived by his son, Bruce Kochmann of Park Rapids, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Clancy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rachel, three brothers and one sisters.
