Richard E. Malvick age 72 of Detroit Lakes, MN died April 22, 2015 at the Clayco Care Center in Barnesville, MN. Richard Edward Malvick was born June 24, 1942 in rural Detroit Lakes, MN to Elmer and Doris (Sharping) Malvick. He grew up and attended country school near his home. The family later moved to the Evergreen area of rural Frazee, MN. Richard attended the Frazee High School. He worked as a self-employed carpenter and also as a union carpenter in both Minneapolis and Fargo. He also raised livestock on his farm and has driven school bus for Schultz Garage in Detroit Lakes for the past fourteen years. In his spare time Richard enjoyed painting and drawing, woodworking, playing the guitar, camping, hunting and fishing. He is survived by one son, Scott Malvick, of Barnesville, MN; two daughters, Theresa (Kim) Sellheim, of Fargo, ND; and Nancy (David) Dickens, of Camarillo, CA; two grandchildren, Elijah and Mary Beth Dickens; three brothers, Carl (Bersy) Malvick, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Ronald Malvick, of Frazee, MN and Donald Malvick of St. Cloud, MN; two sisters, Lorraine Radel, of Stevenson, WA; and Lucille Nelson, of Duluth, MN; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Christenson; two grandsons, Isaac Dickens and Justin Sellheim; three brothers, Clarence, Robert, and a son-in-law, Ken Christenson.
