Inez Thedella Haagenson

Inez T. Haagenson age 95 of Detroit Lakes, MN died September 18, 2015 at Ecumen - Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Inez Haagenson was born March 12, 1920 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Wilhelm and Neliken Bakke Bergquist. She grew up on the family farm in Lake Eunice Township and attended District 23 Country School near her home. In 1941 she married Martin Eagan and they made their home in Detroit Lakes. In 1951 she married LeRoy Ericksen. They farmed in Lake Eunice Township. Inez worked cleaning and caretaking cottages in the Shoreham area. She also did housekeeping work for the Goldberg family in Fargo, ND and Hallandale, FL. She later worked at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. In 1977 she married Marvin Haagenson. They made their home in Detroit Lakes. Inez was later a resident at the Marigold Apartments and has been a resident at the Emmanuel Nursing Home since 2011. Inez was a lifelong member of Augustana Lutheran Church, where over the years she served as a Sunday School teacher, a Luther League leader, and Ladies Aid President. She was active in the Audubon Schools as a member of the Band Boosters and the PTA. She was also a member of the Lake Eunice Farmers Union and one year participated in the Women's Fly In, held in Washington DC. She served on the Handicaped Evaluation Advisory Committee for Becker County and as a volunteer for the Senior Nutrition Program. She also coordinated the Work Well Exercise Program at the Marigold Apartments. Later in her life she enjoyed crocheting, and made countless Afghans. Inez is survived by one son, Jim (Diane) Ericksen, of Wasilla, AK; two daughters, Judy (Orville) Bartels, of Piedmont, SD; and Jackie (Paul) Ziemann, of Detroit Lakes, MN; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph Bergquist, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Charles (Mardella) Bergquist, of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Carol (Larry) Fast, of Champlin, MN; daughter in law, Gladys Ericksen, of Wykoff, MN; brother in law, Les Laffen, of Fargo, ND; sister in law, Phyllis Bergquist, of Detroit Lakes, MN; many nieces and nephews; and two step daughters, Jacque (Bob) Friesen, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Jeanne de-la-Montanya. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Martin Eagen (1948); second husband, LeRoy Ericksen (1971); third husband, Marvin Haagenson (1982); one son, Russell Ericksen; infant daughter, Mary Eagan; three sisters, Doris Jones; Arlys Lindblad, and Margery Ann Laffen; two brothers, Cecil and Wilfred Bergquist; her parents and step daughter,Joanne Hassel.
