Ruth Fuhs age 84 of Detroit Lakes, MN died September 29, 2015 at Ecumen - Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Ruth Fuhs was born June 10, 1931 in Heidelberg, Germany to Hermann and Margaret Dehlem. She grew up and received her education in Germany. She later met Eugene Fuhs, who was serving in the United States Airforce in Germany. They were married on June 5, 1954 in Heidelberg, Germany. They returned to the United States in 1955 and made their home in Park Rapids, MN. In 1956 they moved to Detroit Lakes, where they raised their family. Ruth worked alongside her husband at Fuhs Accounting in Detroit Lakes for many years. Ruth was a long time, active member of First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, cross stitching, and her garden. She also enjoyed family trips, camping, and going to the casino. She was an avid Twins and Vikings fan and especially liked watching the Vikings with Gene. She is survived by two daughters, Juanita (John Keith) Gowder, of Summerville, SC; and Sharon (Ruben) Esquivel, of West Fargo, ND; two sons, Edward (Kathryn) Fuhs, of Duluth, MN; and Steven (Kimberly) Fuhs, of Detroit Lakes, MN; seven grandchildren, Tammy, Robert, Sara, Kellie, Daniel, Rebeca, and Taylor; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Hermann Dehlem and Dieter Dehlem, both of Germany; sister in law, Sonia (Wes) Tessman, of Grand Rapids, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene (2013); one brother, Gunder Dehlem; great grandson, Elijah Bradley; and her parents.
