Marlene H. Malstrom age 73 of Detroit Lakes, MN died October 22, 2015 at Eccumen - Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Marlene Helen Malstrom was born July 19, 1942 in Breckenridge, MN to Alvin and Rose (Conzemius) Beyer. She grew up and received her education in Breckenridge, graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1960. She then attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND, where she graduated in 1962. Also in that year she was united in marriage to DeForest Malstrom in Breckenridge, MN. Their made their home and farmed near Mapleton, ND. They moved to Detroit Lakes, MN in 1983, where they owned and operated Malstrom Realty. Marlene worked in real estate until her retirement in 2009. Marlene loved the Lake Life at her home on Lake Melissa. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home. She also enjoyed sitting on her deck with a cup of coffee looking at the lake and the birds. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She was a very active member at St. Mary of the Lakes Church, Card club, and Monday Ladies Club. Over the years she proudly served as a CPR instructor. She also served on the Lakes Area Realtors Board, and the MN Rural Finance Authority Board for eleven years. Her other favorite past times included cooking, traveling and shopping. Marlene is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Mark Stafslien) Rensch of Makoti, ND; three sons, Bradley (Kelly) Malstrom of Perham, MN; Jay (Judy) Malstrom of Vergas, MN; and Corey Malstrom of Detroit Lakes, MN; seven grandchildren, Rachel, Chelsey, Garrett, Faith, Josie, Jack and Sam; two great grandchildren, Sageus and Leighla; one brother, Herbert (Marie) Beyer of Breckenridge, MN one sister, Jo Haire of Battle Lake, MN; many nieces and nephews; and a host of good friends. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Brian Rensch; three brothers, Don, James and Robert Beyer; and one sister, Dolores Fritz.
