Bernice I. Syverson age 90 of Frazee, MN, formerly of Callaway, MN died December 21, 2015 at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee, MN. Bernice Irene Syverson was born on March 25, 1925 to Fred and Clara Sedberg in Detroit Lakes, MN. As a young girl in the early 40’s, Bernice loved working with her father in the family furniture store and later in their salvage yard. On April 20, 1947 she was united in marriage to Norman Syverson in Detroit Lakes, MN. They lived on the family farm located on Height of Land Lake. In 1962 they moved to a farm near Callaway, MN. They retired from farming and spent their last years together at Strawberry Lake. Bernice was always very active in her church. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and became known as the “bun lady” as she provided homemade buns for countless church suppers and other occasions at Richwood Lutheran Church. Her true love was helping Norman with the daily chores, especially feeding and caring for the calves and helping with the milking, which they did together for forty three years. She is survived by three sons, Edward (Barbara) Syverson, of Waubun, MN; Wayne (Jeanine) Syverson, of Sioux Falls, SD; and Danny (Connie) Syverson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; eleven grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Mackenthun; and Luella Gannarelli; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman (2003); three sisters, Ada Holmer, Ardith Holmer, and Violet Eidenschink; and her parents.
