Janet Marie Lohrenz

Janet Marie Lohrenz was born in Hutchinson, Minnesota on June 17, 1939 to Dr. and Mrs. Alvin Jensen. Janet grew up in Brownton, Minnesota. Following her high school graduation, she attended Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing (Abbott Northwestern) where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. While in Nursing School, Janet married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Robert (Bob) Paul Lohrenz. Janet started her Nursing Career as a Surgical Nurse at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul while Bob was completing his Senior year in Veterinary School at the University of Minnesota. Also during this time, they welcomed their first daughter, Sheri Lynn to their family. Upon Bob’s Vet school graduation, they moved to Alexandria, MN and another daughter, Jodie Sue, was added to the family.  They made their home on the East side of Lake Cowdry where they raised their family and resided for their 36 years of marriage, until the death of Bob. Three years later, Janet was married to Donald Busker. Janet resided in Detroit Lakes until the time of her death. Janet had a long nursing career. The majority of her career was spent working for Douglas County Public Health and as a Hospice Nurse, in Alexandria, Minnesota. She touched many lives through her work and it was evident she loved doing this challenging work. Janet was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church in Alexandria and in Detroit Lakes. The Lord, church, friends and family were so important to her in her lifetime. Many wonderful memories were made in Alexandria, as well as in Detroit Lakes. Janet Marie Lohrenz passed away with her family by her side following a long-term illness of Alzheimer’s. Janet is survived by her daughters and their families: Sheri (Gregg) Zastrow of Rochester, Jodie (Mike) Herzog of Detroit Lakes. Grandchildren: Christine (Luke) Hvidston, Joshua (Brook Moseng) Herzog, Corey (Danielle Madson) Zastrow, Chad Zastrow, Michael Herzog, Madison Herzog. Great Grandchild: Declan Robert Hvidston. Sister: Kathryn Brynell and Sister/Brother in law: Carole and Merlyn Barlage, as well as nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Barklee and her many friends and caregivers who surrounded her throughout her life and end- of- life care.
