LaVanche Crystal Larson

LaVanche C. Larson 95, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. LaVanche was born in Warren, Minnesota the daughter of Henning and Clara (Peterson) Nybladh. She was raised in rural Alvarado, Minnesota and attended country school. LaVanche graduated from high school in 1937. She then attended Aakers Business College in East Grand Forks. LaVanche was united in marriage to Everett Larson on December 28, 1939 in Crookston, Minnesota. They made their home in rural East Grand Forks, where they farmed with Everett’s parents. In 1949, they moved to a farm in rural Warren, Minnesota until 1956 when they moved to Audubon. LaVanche worked as a secretary for Modern Woodmen of America and then at First Lutheran Church for twenty years until her retirement. She enjoyed working with crafts, flowers and was a local floral supplier for all occasions and she was known to many as the flower lady. LaVanche was very involved with the church and also many community activities. She was the first woman on the Audubon School Board and was also involved with the VFW, Becker County Homemakers and Eagles Auxiliary. LaVanche enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, but wasn’t afraid to tell them when they were getting too loud and it was time to leave! She also enjoyed being a chauffeur for many of the grandchildren as she loved to drive. LaVanche moved to Detroit Lakes in the fall of 2002. LaVanche is survived by her children, Ronald Larson of Chicago, IL; Byron (Machiko) Larson of Eagen, MN; Mark (Kathy) Larson of Brooklyn, WI, Kim (Darlene) Larson of Fargo, ND; Cathy (Dean) Sunram of Audubon, MN; Jay (Mary) Larson of Plainfield, IL; Jill (Bob) Timm of Alexandria, MN; twenty-seven grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. LaVanche is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Everett, daughter, Lori Gillespie, sons, Lowell and Dale Larson, daughter-in-law, Arlene Larson, great grandson, Colton Larson.
