Joan V. Kacer

Joan V. Kacer age 68 of Detroit Lakes, MN died June 23, 2016 at the Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Joan Viola Kacer was born August 19, 1947 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Henry and Bertha (Fiechtner) Mackenthun. She grew up near Height of Land Lake in rural Frazee, MN and graduated from Frazee High School in 1965. She married Jim Kacer and they made their home in rural Frazee, MN.  Joan worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Rogstad in Detroit Lakes for several years and later worked for MAHUBE for many years in their fuel assistance, commodities, and Head Start programs. Joan was very artistic and loved to paint. She won several awards for her paintings at the Becker County Fair. She was a kind, gentle woman who enjoyed people. She is survived by one daughter, Deb (John) Noyes, of Bismarck, ND; one son Cory (Kristin) Kacer, of Maple Grove, MN; five grandchildren; Jonah, Jennifer, Rebecca, James, and Nathanial; two great grandchildren; Waylon and Oliver; one sister, Linda (Robert) Honer, of Dent, MN; mother, Bertha Mackenthun, of Fergus Falls, MN; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Mackenthun; one brother, Marvin Mackenthun; and sister in law, Darlene Mackenthun.
