Jeanette E. Tomlinson age 89 of Hibbing, MN formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN died August 27, 2016 at the Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing, MN. Jeanette Elaine Tomlinson was born September 1, 1926 in Nashwauk, MN to Julius and Hilma (Lohi) Cook. She grew up and attended school in Nashwauk. The family later moved to Nimrod, MN and Jeanette graduated from Sebeka High School. She then attended Bemidji State Teachers College. On June 28, 1947 she was united in marriage to Blair Tomlinson in Duluth, MN. They made their home in a logging camp near Isabella, MN that was owned by Blair’s brother Ken. In 1950 they moved to East Grand Forks, MN and in 1954 they moved to Callaway, MN where they owned and operated Tomlinson Lumber for many years. In 1978 Blair retired and they moved to their lake home on Bad Medicine Lake. They moved into Detroit Lakes in 1998. Jeanette has been a resident of Hibbing since 2011. Jeanette was a very kind, generous person. She unassumingly carried out many random acts of kindness. She and Blair wintered in Mexico for many years and provided many Mexican children a way to get an education. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Callaway, MN where she taught Sunday School and was active in Ladies Circle. She is survived by two sons, Lonney Tomlinson, of Twin Valley, MN and Robert (Barb) Tomlinson, of Sewell, NJ; three daughters, Linda (Bill) Whiteside, of Hibbing, MN; Lea (Bob) Pawlak, of Indianapolis, IN; and Roanna Tomlinson, of Bemidji, MN; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Blair (2001); son Randy Tomlinson; great granddaughter, Jonni Jeanette Tomlinson; two sisters, Bernice Schuricht; and Dorrine Friendshuh; two brothers, Woodrow Cook and Delbert Cook; and her parents.
