Jerome "Jody" Muench

Jerome F. “Jody” Muench age 67 of Detroit Lakes, MN died unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep on September 19, 2016 at his residence. Jody Muench was born October 4, 1948 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Jerome and Eunice (Carrels) Muench. He grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1966. As a kid he spent a lot of his summers working for his family at Muench’s Family Resort and Tom and Jody’s Campground on Long Lake. He later attended Bemidji State and Moorhead State Universities. On January 8, 1972 he was united in marriage to Kathryn Lundberg in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in Moorhead, MN for a short time, where together they worked in real estate sales. They moved to Detroit Lakes and Jody worked as a car salesman for Norseman Motors for 25 years. Jody was a very caring, loving person. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, lawn care, flower gardening, and travel. He is survived by one daughter, Megan (Brian) Anderson, of Fergus Falls, MN; one son, Jon (Nicole) Gustavson, of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren, Alexis and Cole Gustavson; three sisters, Rebecca (Bill Primo) Muench, of Orlando, FL; Carol (Ted) Torgerson, of Callaway, MN; and Andrea Chase, of Crosby, MN; two brothers, Tom (Kit) Muench, of Colorado; and Mark (Kim) Muench, of Clear Lake, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy (2013); sister and brother in law, Mona and John Register; brother in law, Greg Chase; and his parents. Memorial Services will be on Tuesday, October 4, 2016; 2:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Lund Lutheran Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
