DeAnn K. Helliksen

DeAnn K. Helliksen Age 77 of Detroit Lakes, MN died September 29, 2016 at Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. DeAnn Kay Hellikson was born February 12, 1939 in Woodville, Ohio to Carlton and Esther Damschroeder Kruse. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Woodville High School. On June 29, 1958 she was united in marriage to Orlean Helliksen in Woodville, Ohio. They made their home and raised their family on a farm near Ogema, MN. DeAnn was very active at the Atlanta Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidery, and gardening. She also loved time spent with her family. She is survived by two sons, Todd (Leonna) Helliksen, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and James (Lisa) Helliksen, of Ogema, MN; three daughters, Lisa (Tim) Moen, of Audubon, MN; Donna (Ron) Beyer, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Hope (Sid) Canham, of Detroit Lakes, MN; sixteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Karen (Denny) Gerwin, of Fremont, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlean; one son, Brian Helliksen; one grandson, Zachary Beyer; one brother, Gary Kruse; and her parents. Funeral Services will be on Monday October 3, 2016; 2:00 p.m. at the Atlanta Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park, MN. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Atlanta Lutheran Cemetery.
