Thomas J. Olson

Thomas J. Olson Jr. age 77 of Lake Park, MN passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 14, 2016 at his residence. Thomas James Olson Jr. was born in Cloquet, MN on September 15, 1939 to Thomas and Eleanor Olson. He grew up in Grand Portage, MN amongst a lot of family and friends. Tom served in the United States Army from 1962-1968. He was united in marriage to Carol Forrest on June 15, 1971 in Milbank, SD. Together they raised six children. Together they shared the joy of Westerns (written and TV), Dale Earnhardt Sr., football (Go Vikings!), country music, favorite bird (the Eagle), raising their children and foster children, and playing with their nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Tom is survived by his loving family, Wife, Carol Ann Olson; three sons, Jason J. (Jennifer) Olson; Ed Ryden; and Kevin Lee Olson; two daughters, Tommie Sue (Jerod Fandrich) Olson; and Terri Lynn (Ward) Leslie. Grandchildren, Zack Olson, Isabelle (Izzy) Olson, Tylor McLaughlin, Kitti McLaughlin, Tristan McLaughlin, Justine  McLaughlin, JT (Becca) Kvare, Kassandra Ryden-Speer, and Wesley Ryden-Speer; great grandchildren, Piper Kvare and Aubreyanna Stallman; Two brothers, Jeffrey Raymond (Ellie) Olson, Louie Olson; three sisters, Margaret Carlson, Laura Radmar, and Lynn (Moss) Tibbets; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and special friends and family from the Grand Portage Reservation. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard Neil (Patty) Olson; and Wesley Olson; one sister Carol; beloved daughter Angel Marie Olson; and great grandson, Tate Jordan Kvare.
