Alfred T. Johnson age 93 of Detroit Lakes, MN died November 9, 2016 at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. Alfred T. Johnson was born December 8, 1922 in rural Lake Park, MN to Peter and Hilma Johnson. He attended Country School near his home and graduated from Lake Park High school in 1942. On October 18, 1944 he was united in marriage to Edna Gilbertson. They lived in Glyndon, MN and Alfred worked for Armour Meats in West Fargo, ND. They later moved to Westbury, MN. He drove truck for Madison Silo and Swifts. They moved to Richwood, MN, where he farmed and drove truck for Gabor Trucking until his retirement. He is survived by five daughters, Arlette (Richard) Westlund, of Lake Park, MN; Carol Johnson, of Montevideo, MN; Darlene (Dennis) DeGroat, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Audrey Boe, of Richwood, MN; and Tammy (Guy) Dilks, of Callaway, MN; two sons, Alfred W. (Shirley) Johnson, of Callaway, MN; and Roger (Sue) Johnson, of Richwood, MN; thirty one grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; son in law, Ken Anderson; and daughter in law, Nancy Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna (2006); two daughters, Mary Ann Dalman and Barb McDonough; one son, Richard Johnson; one granddaughter, Denise DeGroat; and eleven brothers and sisters. Memorial Services will be on Saturday November 12, 2016; 2:00 p.m. at the Lund Lutheran Church in rural Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Lund Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.
