Marie E. Kohler

Marie E. “Punkie” Kohler age 92 of Railroad Flats, CA died November 24, 2016 at the Kit Carson Assisted Living Center in Jackson, CA. Marie Eileen Kohler was born October 11, 1924 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Jack and Esther Skinner. In 1941 she was united in marriage to Arnold W. Kohler. In 1946 they moved to Pittsburg, CA where they raised their family and started a family grocery store business. Marie worked in the store from 1956 to 1983 when the business was sold. She was the greatest cook and baker. She loved being with family and friends and could play games all day with them. She is survived by four children, Ron (Lynn) Kohler, of Bay Point, CA; John Kohler, of Audubon, MN; Linda Sorrick, of Pittsburg, CA; and Becky (Frank) Romero, of Railroad Flats, CA; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; fourteen great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters; two brothers; two grandsons; one daughter in law; and her parents. Funeral Services will be on Saturday December 3, 2016; 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Audubon, MN. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN. A special thanks to all the family members in California who shared an early Thanksgiving with Marie, and also for sending their love and condolences.
