Caroline C. Thiessen

Caroline C. Thiessen age 90 of Detroit Lakes, MN died January 29, 2017 at Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Caroline Cecelia Thiessen was born July 9, 1926 in Cokato, MN to Hjalmer and Signe (Greku) Olson. She grew up and attended school in Cokato. On February 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to Gilbert Gille. They made their home and raised their family near Annandale, MN. In 1968 she was married to Willard Theissen. They lived in Mpls, MN and Poplar, WI before moving to Fargo, ND in 1983. In 1992 they moved to Toad Lake near Osage, MN. Caroline moved into Detroit Lakes shortly after Willard’s death in 1999. Caroline enjoyed baking bread, fishing, and quilting. She really liked people and made friends wherever she lived. Above all she loved time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Michael (Jeanie) Gille, of Waverly, MN; and David (Loretta) Gille, of Moorhead, MN; six daughters, Betty Lou (Jeffrey) Nevin, of Poplar, WI; Patty (Gary) Huberty, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Gayle (Scott) Jones, of Poplar, WI; Peggy Wisted, of Poplar, WI; Connie (Steve) Wanda, of Hays, KS; and Jackie (Bill Gillett) Roberts. Of Denver, CO; twenty three grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren, and two more on the way; one great great granddaughter; five sisters, Millie Johnson, Marie (Clayton) Johnson, Florence Jones, Carole (Kenny) Wirtz, and Marcy (Ralph) Petruzzi; two sisters in law, Janice Olson and Marie Olson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gilbert Gille; second husband, Willard Thiessen; one daughter, Linda Lano; four brothers, John, Art, Harold, and Carl Olson; and son in law, Gary Wisted. Funeral Services will be on Saturday Feb. 4, 2017; 1:00 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Osage, MN.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes, MN.
