Arlene C. Motteberg

Arlene C. Motteberg age 84, of Detroit Lakes, MN died March 3, 2017 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Arlene Carmen Motteberg was born July 4, 1932 in Fargo, ND to Palmer and Betsy (Sandness) Venn. She lived in Fargo until the age of eight, when the family moved to Gary, MN. Arlene finished her education in Gary, graduating from Gary High school in 1950. Following high school she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone in Fargo. On June 18, 1955 she was united in marriage to Alden Motteberg in Gary, MN. They lived in Fargo for a short time before moving to Detroit Lakes where they raised their family. In the later years Arlene did daycare for the Schram family in Detroit Lakes. Arlene enjoyed living on their small hobby farm, raising goats and gardening. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts. Her family and her faith were very important to her. She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Craig) Olson, of Fergus Falls, MN; and Sheila (Brad) Larson, of Gardner, ND; one son, David (Rhonda) Motteberg, of Detroit Lakes, MN; nine grandchildren; three great grandsons; and one brother, Donald Venn, of Fargo, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alden (1998); one grandson, Anthony Olson; and her parents. Memorial Services will be on Thursday March 9, 2017; 10:00 a.m. at the Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home Chapel in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, MN.
