Roselyn M. Jacobs

Roselyn M. Jacobs age 79 of Detroit Lakes, MN died March 15, 2017 at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN. Roselyn Marlene Jacobs was born August 28, 1937 in Hillsboro, ND to Otto and Emma (Jahnke) Siegert. She grew up and attended school in Hillsboro, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1954. She then attended the Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. She worked for numerous companies in the Fargo, Moorhead area as a Bookkeeper and Office Manager. On August 29, 1968 she was united in marriage to Darrell Jacobs in Fargo, ND. They made their home in Moorhead, before moving to Staples, MN in 1972. In 1980 Darrell’s job moved the family to Jakarta, Indonesia. Upon arrival, Rosie fired her current staff (AKA her children) and proceeded to hire and manage her professional household staff. Following Darrell’s retirement, they moved back to Detroit Lakes in 2002. Rosie’s many interests included bowling, ceramics, softball, cross stitch, and reading and listening to books. She also enjoyed world travel and entertaining family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Melhus, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Laurie (Brian) Johnson, of Ham Lake, MN; two sons, Dan (Danell) Melhus, of Dallas, TX; and Keith Jacobs, of Spanaway, WA; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, MaryAnn (Richard) Remme, of Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell (2011); one daughter, Wanda Jacobs; one granddaughter, Dana Melhus; one sister, Elaine Sayre; one brother, Marvin Siegert; and her parents.Memorials preferred to State Services for the Blind - 2200 University Ave W.
