Marilyn R. Daak age 90 of Detroit Lakes, MN died March 18, 2017 at Ecumen – The Cottages in Detroit Lakes, MN. Marilyn Rose Daak was born June 9, 1926 near Borup, MN to Cornelius and Anna (Hopstad) Lakeman. The family moved to a farm near Detroit Lakes, which is now the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Marilyn attended Country School near there, and later moved into Detroit Lakes where she graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1943. She then worked for the Veterans Administration in Moorhead, Fergus Falls, Brainerd, and Alexandria, MN. In March of 1948 she was united in marriage to Bob Daak. They made their home in Alexandria, before moving to Detroit Lakes in 1954. Marilyn worked in the office at the Detroit Lakes Clinic for over twenty five years. She has been a resident of The Cottages since 2013. Marilyn was very active at the Assembly of God Church in Detroit Lakes, and also volunteered at Emmanuel Nursing Home for many years. She enjoyed fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Jeff) Dangerfield, of Moorhead, MN; and Linda Daak, of Douglas, AK; one son, Douglas (Sharon) Daak, of Detroit Lakes, MN; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by one great grandson; one brother; two sisters; and her parents. Memorial Services will be on Friday March 24, 2017; 3:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Nursing Home Chapel in Detroit Lakes, MN. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
