LuEtta J. Anderson

LuEtta Joan (Hanson) Anderson, age 84 of Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Crookston, MN, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home of Detroit Lakes, MN.   LuEtta was born August 6, 1932, to Lloyd and Alice (Stahl) Hanson in Fargo, ND.  She was educated in Fargo, graduating from Fargo High School in 1950. She attended North Dakota State University and graduated with a B.S. degree in Home Economics, 1954. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta and a majorette in the NDSU Marching band. She was united in marriage to John H. Anderson, (Minot) in 1954 in Fargo, ND. LuEtta was baptized and confirmed in Elim Lutheran Church, Fargo.     LuEtta and John lived in Fargo, North Dakota, Sioux City, Iowa and 39 years in Crookston, Minnesota until John’s retirement in 2001. They enjoyed spending their winters in their home in Sun Lakes, AZ and spending time at their lake home on Lake Sallie with family in the summer. They were married 57 years.   LuEtta was an active homemaker and mother raising seven children. She was active in her children’s school and church activities and enjoyed golfing, fishing sewing, knitting, baking, dining out, attending John’s car shows, and watching the birds and sunsets on Lake Sallie. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family.   LuEtta was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Alpha Gamma Delta Alumni Association   LuEtta is survived by her seven children, Rebecca Anderson (Mike Illg) of Frazee, MN, Gregory (Patricia) Anderson of Mentor, MN, Susan Rohde of Gilbert, AZ, Greta (Jeff) Whelan of Crystal, ND, Brian (Kathy) Anderson, Crookston, MN, David (Meg Chin) Anderson of Tempe, AZ, Daniel (Stephanie) Anderson, Gilbert, AZ, ten grandchildren:  Anna (Erik) Sjursen, Kate (Derrick) Suda, Frances (Kyle) Kreklow,  Nicholas (Samantha)Bergan, Abbie and Jake Anderson, Carson Rohde, Sophia Hake, Jonathan and Macie Anderson ; two great grandchildren:  Nadia Sjursen and Blake Kreklow;  Sister-in-laws, Mary (Del) Hanson, Detroit Lakes, MN and Nancy (Tom) Lium, Fargo, ND, several nieces and nephews.   LuEtta was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, brothers; Del Hanson (Detroit Lakes, MN) and Dennis Hanson (Cincinnati, Ohio) and grandson, Michael John (Crookston, MN).   A private family memorial service will be held in April.
