Mary A. Oellien age 92 of Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Park Rapids, MN died April 19, 2017 at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Mary Agnes Oellien was born March 3, 1925 near Porter, MN to Robert and Ella Jackson. She grew up and attended Country School near Porter. On November 29, 1944 she was united in marriage to John B. Oellien at the Garfield Lutheran Church near Madison, MN. They farmed near Canby, MN until 1967 when they moved to Park Rapids, MN, where Mary worked at Dahl’s Bakery and later St. Joseph Hospital, in the housekeeping Dept. Mary enjoyed gardening, canning, traveling, animals, and fishing. She also loved music and art. She liked to draw, paint, and play her violin. Her Church and her family were very important to her. She is survived by one daughter, Linda (Daniel) Hanson, of Park Rapids, MN; one son Carl (Mary) Oellien, of Detroit Lakes, MN; five grandchildren, Edward Oellien, Kenneth Oellien, Thomas Wettels, Luke Oellien, and Ginger Woodrum; seven great grandchildren, Tiffany, Joshua, Abby, Tristan, Jaxson, Callie, and Mayson; and one great great grandson, Anthony. She was preceded in death by her husband John (2014); two brothers, Leonard Jackson and Butch Jackson; one sister, Margaret Charboneau; one granddaughter, Annette Shearer; daughter in law, Janet Oellien; and her parents. Memorial Services will be on Monday April 24, 2017; 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Osage, MN. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.
