Duane J. Husby age 83 of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away at home with his loving wife at his side on May 17, 2017 under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Duane John Husby was born on May 23, 1933 to Osborn and Florence (Gesch) Husby in rural Milaca County. He attended school in Princeton, MN and graduated in 1952. Following graduation he worked various jobs. He married Gloria Schrupp in Park Falls, WI and they had a son David together. They moved to Detroit Lakes, MN in 1964 and later divorced. Duane worked at St. Mary’s Regional Health Center for a number of years. He later married Reva Wilcox on September 29, 1975 is Sisseton, SD and gained two daughters, Chris and Char. In 1980, he went to work for Lakes Homes and Program Development until his retirement. After he retired he was a driver for Lakes MediVan and then for the Becker County DAC. He was active in the United Methodist Church and was a volunteer for Hospice of the Red River Valley, “Lets Go Fishing for Seniors”, and Rossman School.  Duane loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed riding bike, traveling with his wife,  and being outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Reva; a son David (Kristi) Husby of Detroit Lakes, MN; two daughters, Christine (Jim) Pearce of Cheney, KS; Charlene (Paul) Bakken of Detroit Lakes, MN; ten grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren with three more due the summer of 2017. Duane is preceded in death by his parents and two great grandchildren Reese and Hudsyn Larson. In lieu of flowers memorial may be given to the Hospice of the Red River Valley, “Lets Go Fishing for Seniors” or the United Methodist Church.
