Marcella O. Jernberg age 80 of Detroit Lakes, MN died May 23, 2017 at the Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Marcella Oline Jernberg was born October 4, 1936 in Pinewood, MN to Ole and Johanna (Gelen) Bakke. She attended Country School near her home and in 1954 graduated from Bemidji High School. She then attended Bemidji State University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1960. She taught in Ely, MN and later in Osseo, MN. On December 28, 1963 she was united in marriage to George Jernberg in Bemidji, MN. They made their home in Aurora-Hoyt Lakes, MN. In 1967 they moved to Detroit Lakes, MN and Marcie taught music in Lake Park, MN for a few years. Her main focus in life was being a mother, raising her children and caring and supporting her husband. She enjoyed crafts and sewing, and created many special things for her family and friends. She was a very social person who enjoyed being with others. She was very happy when she would host gatherings in her home. Marcie is survived by one daughter, Terri Jernberg, of Detroit Lakes, MN; two sons, Greg (Danielle) Jernberg, of St. Bonifacius, MN; and Brad (Annette) Jernberg, of Detroit Lakes, MN; four grandchildren, Cody Jernberg, Emma Jernberg, Johanna Jernberg, and Peyton Jernberg; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Marcie was preceded in death by her husband, George; two brothers, Frederick Bakke and Orville Bakke; and her parents.
