Beverly Thompson age 88 of Detroit Lakes, MN died July 31, 2017 at Ecumen- The Cottages, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Beverly Corrine Adele Thompson was born April 6, 1929 in Perley, MN to Norvald and Clara Nelson. She graduated from Borup High School. On October 12, 1947 she was united in marriage to Gordon “Bud” Thompson, She and Bud spent forty three years on the farm in Ada, MN, where they raised four children. The family spent many great summers at the cabin on Roy Lake. They traveled the country in their RV while Bud worked as a sales rep for Clay Equipment. Shortly after his retirement they settled in Detroit Lakes, and spent many winters in Mesa, AZ, enjoying the warmth of the Arizona sun. Beverly was active in First Lutheran Church and Ladies Circle. She also volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes. Her hobbies included Swedish Weaving, where she completed dozens of afghans for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was also a collector of fine porcelain dolls and porcelain roses. She is survived by her husband, Bud of nearly seventy years; four children, Gary, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Richard, of Bismarck, ND; Lowell (Judy), of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Sondra “Suzie” (Myron) Kaiser, of Crookston, MN; eight grandchildren, Andy (Tina) Thompson, of Lake Park, MN; Lance Thompson, of Bismarck, ND; Stacy (Keith) Heinlein, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kelly (Courtney) Schauer, of Bismarck, ND; Matt (Kathrine) Thompson, of Audubon, MN; Patrick Thompson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Frank Kaiser, of Crookston, MN; and Gene Kaiser, of Grand Forks, ND; and sixteen great grandchildren, Madison, Kale and Kash Thompson; Peyton and Tristan Eischens; Carissa, Brady, and Lily Schauer; Indiah Thompson; and Joe, Wyatt, Kristina, Mikkel Heinlein, Thomas Hoffman, Severin Thompson, and Tony Kaiser. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Marvin, Donald, and Lloyd Nelson; and two sisters, Deloris Doyle and Betty McKerney.
