Allen Behr

September 4, 1956 — March 2, 2018

Allen Lynn Behr was born September 4, 1956, in Worthington, Minnesota, the son of Lynn and Alta (Redenius) Behr. He passed away Friday March 2, 2018, in Detroit Lakes, at his home surrounded by his family. He grew up and attended school in Fulda, Minnesota, graduating from Fulda High School with the Class of 1974. Allen continued his education at the University of Minnesota – Crookston graduating with an Associate’s degree in Business Management. On August 7, 1976, Allen married the love of his life Pam Dierks at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Fulda. They were blessed with four loving boys. Allen began his career working in Sioux Falls and Iowa before returning home to Fulda to work alongside his father at Behr Enterprises. He returned to school at SMSU Marshall graduating with honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.  Allen and family then moved to Detroit Lakes where he worked as an accountant, he later went on to become the Business Director for the Fargo YMCA.  He most recently served as Director of Business Services at Minnesota State Community and Technical Colleges where he was recognized multiple times for his outstanding service. Faith, family, and fishing were of the utmost importance to Allen.  He was a man of strong faith and character who was not afraid to call it like he saw it. His infectious laugh and smile have left their mark on many and will never be forgotten.  Allen was a father figure to many, a cheerleader to all, and friend to those in need.  Throughout his life he made many friends, but he always considered his four boys his best and closest friends.  He adored his grandchildren and loved every minute he could spend with them.  Allen's favorite pastime was fishing and family fishing outings gave him great joy.  He also had a passion for sports and enjoyed talking sports and attending games with his family.  His absence will leave a gaping hole but we will continue to remember his life with joy until we meet again! Allen is survived by his wife Pam Behr of Detroit Lakes; sons: Matthew (Angie) Behr of Fargo; Eric (Amanda) Behr of Fargo; Joseph Behr of Burnsville; Mickey (Carlos) of Mankato; grandchildren: Greta, Lance, Jackson, Morgan, Brady, and Luke; parents: Lynn and Alta Behr of Fulda; sisters: Wanda Behr of Pipestone; Nan (Dave) Henning of Fulda; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marlowe Behr.
