Anita Louise Eidenschink, 88, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, was born on July 8, 1937, to Henry and Ruth (Schnitzer) Wilke. On February 18, 2026, she left her earthly home, and all who loved her will miss her dearly. Our beloved mother had a beautiful soul and always gave her three sons the very best of herself. On June 30, 1987, she married the love of her life and soulmate, Norbert Eidenschink. Anita cherished camping, fishing, and spending time on the lake—especially at Rick and Bobby's. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she delighted in watching the birds at her feeders or by the pond across from her and Norb's house. If you passed by their home, you would often find her tending the flowers in the front yard. Baking delicious apple pies from their own apple trees became her special treat for family and visitors alike.
Throughout her life, Anita worked at numerous jobs and made many friends along the way. She spent many years at Swift's, and after it closed, she attended college for Chef's Training, later becoming a cook at the Sunnyside Nursing Home. She then worked at Barrel O' Fun and eventually drove a school bus until the age of 74. Anita began her retirement at Twin Haven, where she continued to care for flower beds and enjoy her yard. In time, she moved to senior housing in town, where she formed wonderful new friendships and rekindled old ones. She especially enjoyed sharing coffee time with her friends.
Whether as a mother, grandmother, aunt, or friend, Anita greeted everyone with a warm smile and was always ready with gracious life advice for anyone who asked. She is survived by her three sons, Dean (Debra), Blair (Diane), and Marlow; her sister, Jeanne Peterson of California; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Anita was preceded in death by her beloved husband Norbert, with whom she shared 24 joyous years, her parents, her brother Ronny, her sister-in-law Barbara, and her brother-in-law Roger Peterson.
Funeral service will be conducted at DAVID-DONEHOWER FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday February 24th beginning with a time of visitation at 10 am, with formal services starting at 11 am. Anita interred at Camp Ripley Veteran cemetery on Wednesday February 25th.
