Annette M. Pawlak

June 16, 1953 — September 25, 2020

Annette Mae (Nybo) Pawlak, loving mother, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 67 due to a short, but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Annette was born on June 16th, 1953 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Elizabeth (Vogt) and Arne Nybo Sr. Annette had an excellent memory and was a fantastic storyteller. She would love to tell her children and grandchildren about the importance of being kind and helping one another. All of her stories had valuable lessons to learn from. She was intuitive, persuasive and promoted happiness (and a little sarcasm) to those around her and that was reflected in her hobbies and how she spent her time. Annette loved to travel, knit, bake (especially Christmas goodies) and she really liked skunking her brother at cribbage. Annette valued the friendships she made throughout her life; she demonstrated unparalleled generosity and brought smiles to many. Annette was a telephone operator for 24 years where she proudly served as a champion of her fellow workers as a CWA Chief Union Steward. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, a small, private service was held at Oak Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be announced at a later date.

Annette is survived by her children: Jenny Hagen (Tim), Jamie Pawlak (Dee), Jason Pawlak, Justin Pawlak (Donna), Jesse Pawlak (Saundra)and Ron Gandrud Jr., grandchildren: Devin Hagen(Beth), Madison Hagen, Hannah Hagen and Xavier Pawlak, siblings: Gerry (Lillian) Nybo Sr., Steve Nybo, Peggy Olson, Lilly Ann Nybo, niece/nephews: Katie Sandberg, David Nybo and Tim Nybo. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Arne Nybo Jr., brother-in-law, Dennis Olson, and nephew, Gerry Nybo Jr.

If you’d like to honor her memory with a gift, please consider a donation in her name to any of the following: Hospice of the Red River Valley (hrrv.org), Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org) or the Arthritis Foundation (arthritis.org).
