Betty J. Hanson

Betty Jean Hanson, 79, was called to rest on October 3, 2020 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. She was born on July 22, 1941 in Sogn Valley, MN to Arnold and Gladys (Schiell) Sundheim. Betty attended country school and graduated high school at the young age of 17, in 1958. She attended nursing school in Fargo, where she met Lee Hanson. They were married on May 19, 1962 in Minot, ND. They welcomed their first child, Karl and shortly after moved to Frazee, MN. They continued growing their family and had four more children, Karen, Jay, Jean, and Eric. During this time, they bought the family farm in 1966. Lee, Betty and their family dairy farmed for 36 years and still farm to this day. Betty’s interests included her family, church, Ladies Aid, the annual lefse bake, hunting, fishing, quilting, gardening, card parties, and being at the lake. Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lee; children, Karl (Teresa) Hanson, Karen (Byron) Tappe, Jay (Lisa) Hanson, Eric Hanson; her 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Elvena and Rosemary; brothers, Donald and Rodney. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jean; her parents; brothers, Gary and Joe; sister, Arlene and brother-in-law, Bruce Hanson. An Outdoor Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at St. John's Lutheran Church- Height of Land. Visitations will be 5:00pm-7:00pm Wednesday, October 7 at West-Kjos Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm; and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
