Carol L. Chase

Carol L. Chase, age 78 of Detroit Lakes, MN, died September 12, 2020 at her residence under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Carol Louise Chase was born August 22, 1942 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Earl and Margaret (Leitheiser) Halverson. She grew up and received her education in Detroit Lakes. On February 22, 1961 she was united in marriage to Wayne Chase in Detroit Lakes. They made their home and raised two children in Detroit Lakes. Over the years Carol worked for the Swift Turkey Plant, Jennie O. Hatchery, Erie Jr. Restaurant, and most recently at the Detroit Lakes Senior High, retiring from there earlier this year.

Carol enjoyed traveling on bus tours and drives with her husband. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially 31. Family was very important to her and she cherished the time spent with them.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne; one daughter, Debbie Friesen, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one son, Kevin (Amber Linquist) Chase, of Detroit Lakes, MN; eight grandchildren, David, Chris, Brittany, Jacob, Joe, Jordan, Trevin, and Hunter; eleven great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley (Durland) Rislund, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Judy (Frank) Darnel, of Indiana; and Bonnie (Frank) Koenig, of Lake George, MN; and several nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Halverson; and one nephew, Eric Rislund.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday September 17, 2020; 2:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
