Carol Berdine Lommen

Carol Berdine Lommen, age 81, of Lake Park MN, passed away suddenly while at home on Monday, March 4, 2024.  

Carol was born on October 5, 1942, to Clifford and Jennie Schrader in Sioux Falls, SD.  She was the youngest of three children and was the last surviving family member.  Carol grew up in Sioux Falls, SD and at the young age of Fifteen (15) she met Clarence “Casey” Lommen.  She always said it was his impressive car and good looks that sparked her interest. The two wed April 18, 1959, and wasted no time in starting their family. Together they had 4 children and resided in Hills, MN until 1972. At that time, they moved their family to Roseau, MN and then in 1991, Casey and Carol moved to Lake Park, MN.

Carol had a deep love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the light of the family and the life of the party at any gathering. Carol enjoyed being silly, joking around with everyone and making others laugh. She was quick with her witty responses, had a great sense of humor, and there was never a dull moment when Carol was around. Carol will always be remembered for her laugh and silliness!  Anywhere Carol lived she made many great friends that she quickly accepted as family. Family gatherings often included her friends and their families, which made for even more laughter and fun.  Carol had a great love for dogs, flowers, decorating, crafting and was very artistic. Carol always ensured her home was decorated nicely and her yards were freshly mowed, she loved working in the yard.

Carol is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Toby and Steph Lommen of Moorhead; daughter, Heidi Lommen of Lake Park; sister-in-law Virgene Schrader; brothers-in-law Paul (Sue) Lommen, John Lommen, Mark (Becky) Lommen, and sisters-in-law Betty (Tony) Furutani, Joan Burggraf and Ardell Lommen; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and her best friends Judi Sletmoen, Paula Aune, Carmen Walters as well as several other wonderful girlfriends.  

Carol is proceeded in death by her husband of 64 years, Casey, her daughters Jodie Landin and Jamie Hokkanen, her parents Cliff and Jennie, her Brother Buck Schrader, Sister Janet Erks, Casey’s parents Bud and Ruby Lommen, brother-in-law Gordon Lommen, brother-in-law Rick Burggraf and Great-Granddaughter Myla Kadrmas.
