Cathy Joan Warnke

Cathy Warnke died November 28, 2021, in Detroit Lakes, MN at the age of 55. Cathy was born in May 1966 to Arnold and Barbara (Craft) Warnke in Detroit Lakes, MN. She grew up on an 80-acre hobby farm where she enjoyed working with animals including rabbits, pigs, cattle, ducks and especially horses & dogs. She spent countless hours playing dress up and Barbie dolls with her two older sisters.
After her sophomore year in high school, Cathy moved to Council Bluffs, IA with her mom where she graduated from high school and made many lifelong friends. She worked for a drugstore delivering prescriptions to elderly customers and enjoyed getting to know them and brightening their day.
Cathy moved to Denver, CO where she worked in the insurance industry at Zurich American Insurance and then at Chubb Insurance as an underwriting assistant for 7 years. While in Colorado, she spent her free time showing her dog in local dog shows, weightlifting, hiking in the mountains, playing slot machines in Blackhawk, CO (she was a very lucky player). She also took a memorable trip to Mexico with friends.
Cathy retired in 2006 due to health issues and moved back to Detroit Lakes to be near her family. Her health continued to decline until her passing. She will be remembered for her stubborn determination, her sense of humor & hearty laugh, and her free-spirited take on life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Warnke and Barbara Craft. She is survived by her sisters, Stacy (Eric) Abrahamson of Detroit Lakes, MN and Tracy Warnke of Hibbing, MN. There will be no service at Cathy’s request.
