Curtiss W. Weldon age 78 of Detroit Lakes, MN died December 4, 2017 at his residence. Curtiss Wayne Weldon was born March 21, 1939 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Alva and Irene (McCullum) Weldon. He earned continuing education from Dunwoody Institute, Int’l Correspondence School and many other certifications for highway design and construction. He grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1957. He was united in marriage to Charlotte M. Sundvall on June 27, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. They made their home in Detroit Lakes and Curt began a thirty eight year career with the Becker County Highway Department. He retired in 1995 as the Assistant County Engineer. Following retirement they wintered in Yuma, AZ for many years. Curt enjoyed woodworking, wood carving, bowling, golf, fishing, and RV camping trips. Curt’s Church and his faith were very important to him. As a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church he served as a Trustee, an Elder, Sunday School Supt. and the Finance Committee. Time spent with family was also very important to him. He is survived by his wife Char; one son, Jeffrey (Tracie) Weldon, of Brookings, SD; two daughters, JoAnn (Dale) Gundberg, of Farmington, MN and Patti (Jennifer Hall) Weldon, of Brooklyn Park, MN; four grandchildren, Angela, Travis, Tara and Megan; three great grandchildren, Violet, Clara, and Zoey; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
