Cynthia Rae Melhus

Cynthia R Melhus age 65 of Detroit Lakes passed away May 31st at Essentia Health Innovis in Fargo ND.

Cindy was born 2/22/58 in Minneapolis MN to Rosie Jacobs (Melhus) and Marvin Melhus. She graduated from Staples High School in 1977, and attended sign painting at Detroit Lakes Tech.  She worked many jobs including Seismography, Bartending, and Digitizing / Embroidery at CI Sport for 20+ years.

She married Chuck Baehm in 1989 and had a son Dillon Baehm later that year.  Later in life she met Jim Sims and had many happy years together.  She lived in Fargo, Staples, Minot, Breckenridge, and Indonesia for a year.  Cindy beat cancer July 16, 2015 for over 7 years.

She enjoyed a plethora of things, including her family and friends, reading, billiards, gardening, concerts, pets, pontooning, traveling, and putting a dollar or two in the pull-tab jar for a good cause.

She is survived by her son Dillon Baehm, her significant other Jim Sims, 3 siblings Dan (Danelle) Melhus of Kansas City, Keith Jacobs of Kansas City, Laurie (Brian) Johnson of Ham Lake and many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved very much.

Cindy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Rosie and Darrell Jacobs, Marvin Melhus (father), Wanda Jacobs (Sister), Dana Melhus (Niece).
