Daisy Lorraine Alder

Daisy Lorraine (Maulsby) Alder was born June 2, 1929, in Rochert, MN. Her parents were Milton G. and Ethel V. (Parsons) Maulsby. She was the seventh of eight children. Daisy attended grade school in District 23 by Detroit Lakes MN. She went to two years of high school in Detroit Lakes and her last two years she attended Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson MN. Daisy was the first one in her family to graduate from high school. Daisy married Clarence Alder on June 1, 1949, in Detroit Lakes MN. Clarence and Daisy were married 58 years and had six children.

They lived in Lubbock, Texas for four years and then returned to the Detroit Lakes area and bought a farm north of Callaway.

They milked cows and farmed for fifty years. Daisy enjoyed living in the country and always had a large garden. She canned and froze food for the winter. She was busy all the time, raising six children. When there were four children in church school at the same time, she would bake bread six days a week for sandwiches and meals. She helped with milking and farm work. She did not slow down until she was ninety when we finely got her to sit a little more in her glider chair and relax.

Daisy was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. She was a deaconess and taught children's Sabbath School lessons. She helped out in the kitchen and volunteered at the Community Services Thrift Store. Daisy loved God and depended on him daily.

Even though she was busy with her family, she found time to visit with and help the ladies in the church, and friends and relatives when they needed help. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her church family.

Daisy passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024, on the farm she had lived at for sixty-six years.

She is survived by six children. Terry Alder of Callaway, MN, Tim (Pam) Alder of Cherry Valley, CA, Marilyn Alder of Callaway MN, Betty (Steve) Pedersen of Forsyth, MO, John Alder of New Port Beach, CA, and Jim Alder of Lincoln, NE; Nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and her sister Helen Nussbaum of Eagle Point, OR.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (2008), her parents, Milton and Ethel Maulsby and siblings; Milton Maulsby, Lloyd Maulsby, Ethelda Jane Erickson, Hazel Engstrand, Grace Pressonnell and Stanley Maulsby.
