Darwin Dean Lusty

Darwin D. Lusty was born in Detroit Lakes, MN on May 17, 1947 and passed away on June 12, 2019. He graduated from DLHS in 1965. He joined the Navy after graduation where he learned radio communications and was stationed mainly at the Embassy in London, England. In 1970, he married LaRae Strand and had two children, Chadwick Lusty of Green Bay, WI and Shannon (Corey) Rademacher of Fargo, ND. After he was discharged from the Navy, he began his career as a radio dispatcher with the MN State Patrol and retired in 2012. He was married to Beverly Ames from 1984 – 2019. He is survived by his son and daughter: Chad and Shannon, four grandchildren: Coral Lusty of Eagan, MN, Leif (Katie) Lusty of Fridley, MN and Beau and Ryder Rademacher of Fargo, ND, three sisters: Carol McDougall, JoAnne (Rodney) Leinen and Sharon (Jerry) Hanson, stepsister Charlotte Howell, along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Reino Lusty, mother Muriel Govern, stepfather Lefty Govern, brother Larry Lusty, sister LaVaun Ramsey and step-sister Joyce Lehman. Darwin was always the life of the party. He will be deeply missed by many for his uniquely fun personality. In spirit, he will still be with us doing the many things he loved like having morning coffee at the local gas station with his buddies, eating pies at sister Carol’s, or having fun with the little kids to name a few. His passing has left a hole in all of our hearts.
