David Albert Lerud was born December 23, 1933 in Fargo, North Dakota the son of Albert and Anna (Meyer) Lerud. He passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at his Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. He grew up and attended school in the Twin Valley area before moving with his family to Detroit Lakes. David was confirmed at First Lutheran Church and attended Detroit Lakes High School. On May 3, 1953 David was united in marriage to Betty Eggen at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. To this union three children were born. The family made their home at Upper Cormorant near Lake Park. David drove truck for 58 years working for International Transport, hauling grain independently and Evenson’s. He was a very hard worker and devoted his non-working time to his church. He was an active member of Faith Free Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading his Bible everyday. He is survived by his wife Betty of Detroit Lakes; children: Lynn (Jeff) Johnson of Miles City, Montana; Lori (Jerry) Jensen of Medicine Lake, Montana; Scott (Kelley) Lerud of Waubun; 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren with one on the way; brother: Douglas (Marilyn) Lerud of Mankato, MN; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Anna Lerud, and siblings: Willis, Vernon, Lowell, and JoAnn.
