David Brian Soberg

David B. “Samps” Soberg age 59 of Detroit Lakes, MN died April 26, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Dave Soberg was born September 15, 1961 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Howard and Pauline (Ortlepp) Soberg. He grew up and received his education in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1980. Dave worked as a sanitation truck driver for many years, He enjoyed serving his customers on his route and was known to leave dog treats along the way. He also drove bus for the Boys and Girls Club and most recently for Olander Bus Co. in Detroit Lakes. Over the years he also worked for Anderson Sand and Gravel and Snappy’s  in Detroit Lakes as well as McCaslin Farms of Callaway, MN. On September 5, 2015 he was united in marriage to Valerie.

Dave was a very kind hearted man who was always there to help anyone in need. He would be the first one there and the last to leave, and would make sure the job was done right. He also had a soft spot for kids which was evident in his family and the kids on his bus.

Dave is survived by his wife Val; one son, Jesse Grossman, of Detroit Lakes, MN; three daughters, Anna Aufdenkamp, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Whitney Grossman, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Emma Grossman, of Detroit Lakes, MN; ten grandchildren, Caden, Carter, Sierra, Trinity, Joey, Beau, Oakleigh, Maci, Cooper, and Armour; one brother, Ron (Nancy) Soberg, of Rochert, MN; one sister, Barb (Ron) Swanson, of Waubun, MN; and three nephews, Jory Busch, Neil Busch, and Andrew (Kristen Gray) Busch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and mother in law, Phyllis Beckman.

Memorial Services were held on Saturday May 1, 2021; 2:00 p.m. at the True Life Assembly of God Church in Detroit Lakes. Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes.
