Dean W. Rogers of Detroit Lakes MN and Apache Junction AZ journeyed to heaven on January 16, 2026. Dean was the son of Earl and Loyal (Slininger) Rogers. He was born on February 10, 1948 in Detroit Lakes, MN. He was an inquisitive and energetic child, who loved all sports. Dean attended Twin Valley, MN schools until 7th grade. He graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1966.
Dean worked for Honeywell in Minneapolis until he was drafted into the Army. He very proudly served in Vietnam until discharged on November 29, 1969. He returned to work at Honeywell.
Dean married Kathleen Kagol on October 27, 1973 in Minneapolis. They welcomed their son, Chad in December 1975, their son, Darren in April 1977 and their daughter, Kelly in February 1979. The family moved to Mahnomen for Dean to work as an Amoco Jobber with his dad from 1976 to 1993. From 1994 to 2011 he served as the IT Director at Mahnomen County. After retiring, he and Kathy moved to Detroit Lakes, MN and spent winters in Arizona.
Dean served his country with honor and fought a valiant battle with his health. He is admired for the grace he showed in both. He was kind, respectful and gentle in his nature and loved God and his family above all else.
Dean is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathy; Children: Chad (Christine) Rogers, Duff (Missy) Rogers and Kelly (James) Jackson; Grandkids: Cole, Amelia, Hunter, Cadie, and Charlee; Step-Grandkids: Koryn & Avaya; Brother Jerry (Susan) Rogers, Sister Jeanine (Barry) Houglum; Brothers-in-Law Steve (Miriam) Kagol and Danny (Carla) Kagol; his special Aunt Donna, and lots and lots of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, Earl; mother, Loyal; father-in-law, Albert Kagol; mother-in-law, Lola Kagol; many aunts & uncles.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to Wounded Warrior, the Brady Oberg Foundation or your favored charity.
Services are scheduled at Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes on January 30, 2026 at 2 PM with a visitation one hour prior.
