Delores L. Bjerketvedt age 89 of Detroit Lakes, MN died October 29, 2017 at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. Delores Loretta Hansen was born at home January 14, 1928 to George and Dorothy (Schmidt) Hansen on a farm in Wilkin County, MN. She was baptized in the Missouri Synod Lutheran faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Campbell, MN. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, MN. She received her education in rural schools near Foxhome, MN. She worked in food service at NDSSS in Wahpeton, ND. On July 15, 1948 she was united in marriage to Marvin Jastram. They made their home in Wahpeton, ND. They then moved to Fergus Falls, MN, where she worked at the Park Region Bakery. She and her daughters later moved to Breckenridge, MN, where she worked in food service at St. Francis Hospital. On August 26, 1961 she was united in marriage to William Bjerketvedt. They made their home near Clitherall, MN and near Battle Lake, MN. Delores worked in the Staples Jacket Factory and also at Rosenblats in Fergus Falls, MN. She later divorced and moved to Detroit Lakes where she worked in food service at both the Detroit Lakes Hospital and the Detroit Lakes Nutrition Center. Her interests included dancing, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and being with people. The real joys in her life were her grandson and his family. She often called them her “sweeties.” Delores is survived by two daughters, Carol Hagen, of Springfield, SD and Linda Ottesen, of Newfolden, MN; one grandson, Joseph Jamison (J.J.) (Annemie) Ottesen, of Stanley, ND; four great grandchildren, Kelsee, Ziva, Lucas, and Mason Ottesen, all of Stanley, ND; two brothers, Elroy Hansen, of Fergus Falls, MN; and Harold (Christine) Hansen, of Alaska; sister in law, Adeline Hansen of Fergus Falls, MN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Delores was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Louis (Marion) Hansen; George Hansen Jr.; and Chester (Beverly) Hansen; five sisters, Mary Jane (LeRoy) Bielke; Agnes (Kenneth) Anderson; Hattie (Carlie) Holthusen; Irene (Max) Stroschein; and an infant sister; and two sisters in law, Betty Hansen and Betty Hansen.
