Deloris M. Stoen

Deloris M. Stoen, age 75 of Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday, June 19, 2020 at her residence under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Deloris Marie Stoen was born February 3, 1945 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Ray and Bernice (Johnson) Amundson. She grew up and received her education in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1963.  On June 14, 1963 she was united in marriage to Dennis Stoen in Detroit Lakes. In their early years of marriage, they lived in Dickinson, ND, Sterling, CO, and Demming, NM because of the work that Dennis was in. They moved back to Detroit Lakes in 1968. Deloris owned and operated Jo – Dee Upholstery for over thirty years. Following her years in her upholstery shop she worked for Becker Pet and Garden and Bergen’s Greenhouse in Detroit Lakes.

Deloris had a passion for flower gardening and was a member of the Lake Region Garden Club. She enjoyed being a 4-H leader when her kids were young. She was an active member of the Sons of Norway. It was through this connection that she learned Rosemaling, which she did for many years. She loved to cook and bake and enjoyed gatherings of friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis; two sons, Kevin Stoen, of Reno, NV and Darryl Stoen, of West Fargo, ND; two grandsons, Bryan Stoen and Alex Hawk; three brothers, Allen (Rita) Amundson, of Mpls, MN; Rolland Amundson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Charles (Carrie) Amundson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Services will be at 11:00am on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
